Axel Pilyser discovered photography at the age of fifteen.  After studying at the Louis-Lumière school and starting out as a set photographer, he worked as a chief op and then as a director-editor in political and entertainment programs. In 2010, he returned to the still image through large luminous paintings inspired by urban photographs. In 2012 he discovers West Africa during a reportage for an NGO. Since 2018, he divides his time between field reporting in Côte d’Ivoire, Togo and Benin, and projects as a visual artist, incorporating into the walls of a territory the portraits and written traces of those who live there.
